Kids Hawaiian KempO KARATEĀ (Ages 6-9)

Our program contains a detailed curriculum focused to improve listening and motor skills with increased technical refinement and physical demands.


Our Kids program is:

  • Held three times per week and up to 5 days per week depending on ability

  • Teaches fundamentals of Hawaiian Kempo

  • Focuses on age appropriate skills that build a basic foundation for more advanced training later.

The 12 Kids program skill requirements are composed of both physical and mental challenges with clear & obvious benefits.

Here's a list of the twelve important skills that are spotlighted during the Kids program:

Skill #1-FOCUS
This skill will help your child's aim, listening skills and reaction skills. They will excel faster in any physical activities. Your child will also become a better listener and a more focused student in school.

Skill #2-TEAMWORK
Teamwork is necessary for any young child to develop. The more your child is willing to work with others, the more he or she will accomplish. Your child will develop character, which will help him or her make new friends and become a better leader in life.

Skill #3-CONTROL
Having control means making good decisions. Whether your child is handling a pet or handling a problem, he or she will learn to make the right decision. Control builds confidence.

Skill #4-BALANCE
This skill is crucial to develop at an early age. Your child is beginning to participate in many physical activities that are challenging, like riding a two-wheel bicycle. Your child will develop good balance and a better posture and will learn what role it plays in almost everything we do.

Skill #5-MEMORY
Developing a good memory is exercise for your child's brain. The sooner your child exercises, the smarter he or she will become. Our drills are constantly helping your child think and make smart decisions.

Skill #6-DISCIPLINE
We use the our drills to help reinstill the notion that discipline is fun and rewarding. Your child will take pride in doing the right thing and create their own self-discipline as this becomes their own method of motivation.

Skill #7-FITNESS
It is important for children to understand the importance of being healthy and physically fit. All of that energy has to go somewhere and our curriculum is a very productive direction for them expend it.

Skill #8-COORDINATION
Your child will learn left from right. They will become better physical participants in sports and activities. The better coordination your child has, the fewer injuries your child will sustain. Having improved coordination does wonders for confidence as well, especially in the little ones.

Skill #9-BREAKING
Your child will get to see, and feel the power of the technique he/she is learning by breaking a board. Besides being a lot of fun for your child, this skill is an enormous confidence builder.

Skill #10-KICKBOXING
This skill puts the techniques together, and lets your child practice punching, and kicking combinations. Your child will also learn necessary defensive skills.

Skill #11-SUMO
In this section your child will learn and practice strategies to overcome an aggressive attacker, while using on the spot problem solving skills to use the other person's momentum and strength against them. This skill is also very important in teaching your child how to balance, and create the "base" and how it can help him or her stay off the ground.

Skill #12-GRAPPLING
Your child will learn basic grappling skills. Positioning, mount escapes, and effective defensive postures are taught in this section.

With these 12 skills, your children will develop motor skills, increases hand-eye coordination, gain crucial listening skills and learn to successfully interact with other children. Most importantly your child will build a level of confidence that can only be achieved by pushing beyond where they've gone or thought they could go before and they're doing it with friends having fun.
